Instead of using a wrench to tighten the cables around a split bolt - as is done with traditional split bolt splicing, simply insert the cables into your Insulated Splice Connector and use the appropriate size hex key to easily tighten the screws. With traditional split bolt splicing, rubber tape is needed to act as an insulator, and electric tape to seal the connection. Pre-insulated splice connectors are insulated with a layer of high dielectric rubber and thick coating of vinyl, so no further insulating is required.
