Description: Offered for sale is a 3.75” Ball Bearing Baren for relief printmaking. I started making barens for a university relief printmaking class I taught. I noticed several students were just “sitting on their hands” when all of the large etching presses were occupied. After many iterations I’ve finally produced two barens that I’m happy with, the 3.75” model in this listing and a 5” model that is also available. This 3.75” model features 138 precision chrome plated steel bearings. The two printed parts are secured together with 9 brass heat set inserts and screws making sure all the bearings are on the same plane. Oiling the bearings is not strictly necessary, but is perfectly fine, just keep in mind you’ll want something between your paper and the Baren should you decide to use oil. Pictured are several of the color options I have on hand, but should you want something custom let me know. This includes the possibility of a different “knob” on the Baren. Personalization is also possible. Also pictured is a size comparison between the 3.75” and the 5” model. These are made to order. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
