Here is a fossil fish from the world-famous fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming. From the Eocene, 52 million years ago. From the ash layer of the sandwich beds of Fossil Lake, this plate features a young Knightia eocaena. Measuring approximately 3.2" in length, this specimen features nice ray fins and caudal fin (tail) and vertebrae as well as natural golden-brown pigment, which is commonly found in this layer of the lake.
