Description: This auction is for 3 U.S. Navy USS COLUMBIA SSN-771 "Tiger Shark" Submarine Badges - ANTIQUE SILVER, SHINY GOLD, & SHINY SILVER - SIZE (2.5"). These badges were designed by the crew of the submarine. It has a submarine with a head on view. Two Tiger Sharks face the submarine and are resting on the bow planes on this 688 Class Submarine. Their dimensions are 1/4" shorter than an official U.S. Navy Submarine Insignia. This is an unofficial version of the submarine insignia. There is a Hallmark or Makers Marks on the back of the badge, "VANGUARD" and "SSN-771", the hull number of the Columbia. The badge was made by the same company that makes submarine insignia for the U.S. Navy. It has two clutch post pins on the back for attachments. It was made for crew member's or someone that was stationed on the USS COLUMBIA SSN-771. To the best of my knowledge it is not authorized to be worn on active duty Naval personnel uniforms. But it is probably worn, knowing submariners.
