Description: Collection of 3 original CDV (Carte-de-Visite) photographs of Native American subjects, in wonderful decorated frames. Each 2 1/2 x 4 3/8”, in decorated cardboard frames measuring 4” x 6 3/8”. (As identified in handwriting below photo, includes): “Little Assiniboine” (a.k.a. Sitting Bull’s Son), “Gros Ventres” (Montana Tribe) and “Buck and Squaw”. Two of the Gros Ventres men appear to be holding rifles. Little Assiniboine was adopted by Sitting Bull after his parents were killed by Sitting Bull and other warriors, and he himself was killed during the struggle to arrest Sitting Bull in 1890. Photos are faded, with outside borders foxed from being in the frames, which have some staining as shown. Scarce.
