Description: Set of three charming Hand-colored framed 19th century lithographs from The Birds of Great Britain by John Gould. Published in London by C Hullmandel. Measuring in the frame approximately 15.25 inches by 21.75 inches, with a .5 inch wide frame. John Gould is widely considered as the greatest and most ambitious of all Victorian ornithologists, combining both artistic skill, beauty and anatomical accuracy. Following the tradition of natural history illustrators, such as Barraband and Audubon. As a tribute to his native homeland of England, John Gould published the Birds of Great Britain. This folio was issued over the course of several years from 1862 – 1873 and contains 367 hand-colored lithographs portraying the various avian species found in Great Britain. The item(s) are antique and sold as is and as found. They may show wear, fading, scratches, stains , creases, original imperfections and/or other forms of damage. I note that all have toning, slight foxing, and handling wear at sight as shown in photos. Not examined out of frame, verso are sheet sealed. Frames also have numerous scratches to gilt finish as shown in photos. Examine photos carefully as they are part of the description. Imperfections were factored into pricing. No returns or refunds.
