Description: This listing is for individual whitetail back tendons, which are also called sinew or sinue. One photo shows three tendons to illustrate their natural variability, but please know that when you buy a quantity of one (1) you will receive one tendon. People use sinew to haft arrowheads and feathers to arrow shafts or atl-atl darts, to twist into bow strings or thread, to back wooden or composite bows for target archery or hunting, or for a variety of other crafty things. Back tendons yield nice long fibers, generally longer than what you can get from leg tendons. They are also much easier to separate into individual fibers than leg tendons are. All of the tendons sold in this listing will be at least 20 inches long. I get these tendons from a friend who butchers deer for hunters each fall. He would normally throw them away, but is kind enough to save them for me to clean up. I meticulously scrape the meat, fat, and membrane off both sides of the tendons, then clean out any residual blood or grease with several changes of warm water before air drying them. This yields a beautiful translucent tendon that is easy to separate into fibers for your projects. You can see how clean the sinew is in the close-up photo I have included. I only ship within the United States of America. I charge a flat fee of $4.95 to mail your sinew via USPS Ground Advantage, regardless of how many pieces of sinew you buy.
