Description: This is a large, 4 gram, fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber with a deep orange red color that contains two rare Cretaceous Hemiptera (true bugs) insects that lived with the dinosaurs. One of these bugs has a long, piercing proboscis (straw-like mouth). This particular true bug may have been blood sucking.Today, true bugs are known as being vectors (spreaders) of disease. Could this have been the case in the Dinosaur Age as well? These insects would have been trapped from the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and may have even fed on one!The piece itself weighs 4.0 grams with approximate dimensions of 2.8 cm length by 2.3 cm width and 0.6 cm height. This piece is genuine amber formed over millions of years of polymerization. Burmite (Burmese) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma).
