Description: This sale is for two Vintage Gold Framed Art Prints signed by the artist and numbered. The top print of the main photo is Shooting Starts, Dodecatheon, originally painted by Erdine Nelson from the Alaska Native Plant Society in 1985. The bottom print of the main photo is Monkey Flower/Wild Snapdragon, Mimulus guttatus, originally painted by Donna Standerwick from the Alaska Native Plant Society in 1987 Each framed piece measures approximately 16 1/4 inches tall, 13 1/4 inches long and 1/2 and inch deep. About the artists:Donna Standerwick is a long-time Alaskan resident. Originally from Maine. She moved to Washington in 1957 and on to Alaska in 1961. She is primarily self taught and is a member of the Alaska Watercolor Society and the National Society of Mural Painters and other art organizations on local, state and national levels. She lives in Juneau where she demonstrates, teaches and operates her own studio/gallery/frame shop, "The Laughing Loon". She works in water colors, oils, acrylic, printmaking, wood and soapstone carving and clay sculpture.Erdine Nelson was born in Seattle, Washington in 1918. She moved to Alaska in 1940. As her youngest child was completing high school, Erdine began to sketch birds in Sitka on her lunch hour. This led to her career as a watercolor artist. She was best known for her vibrant florals and won various awards at shows in Alaska and Hawaii. She was a member of the Alaska Watercolor Society since helping it begin. Erdine Nelson died June 25, 2010.
