Description: Original 1st Edition hand-coloured Geological Map Lanarkshire Sheet 24, covering the Stonehouse, Netherburn and Auchenheath areas, on a scale of Six Inches to One Statute Mile. The map was geologically surveyed by the pioneers of the British Geological Survey, Sir Archibald Geikie and his brother James, and published in 1875 by Sir Andrew Crombie Ramsay (Director General). The map itself is on thick parchment type paper and measures approximately 91cm x 61cm, with titles, notes, legends and scale bar on the wide margins. The whole sheet measures approximately 98cm x 65cm. The map is generally in good condition although has been overmarked in places and has several tears around the edges (see photos). It is ideal for framing and would be of interest to local historians/collectors. (Postage outwith the UK to be confirmed.) Seller Ref: 215
