Description: Original 1st Edition hand-coloured Geological Map Haddingtonshire/East Lothian Sheet 14, covering the Pencaitland, Ormiston and East Saltoun areas, on a scale of Six Inches to One Statute Mile. The map was geologically surveyed by the pioneers of the British Geological Survey, Henry Hyett Howell and Sir Andrew Crombie Ramsay, and published in 1861 by Sir Roderick Impey Murchison (Director General). The map is mounted on linen backed parchment and measures approximately 91cm x 61cm, with titles, notes, legends and scale bar on the wide margins. The whole sheet measures approximately 95cm x 64cm. It is generally in good condition, although is slightly soiled in places and has an overmarked land boundary (see photos). It is ideal for framing and would be of interest to local historians/collectors. (Postage outwith the UK to be confirmed.) Seller Ref: 92
