It has the longest period of wound support if compared to other absorbable sutures, with excellent tensile strength. Polydioxanone sutures retain about 70% of the initial tensile strength after 2 weeks, 50% of the initial tensile strength after 4 weeks, and 25% after 6 weeks of implantation. The suture is fully absorbed within 180 days. Needles are made of 300-series surgical steel alloy and made as slim as possible without compromising strength, stable in the grasp of a needle holder, and able to carry suture material through tissue with minimal trauma. Needles are laser-sharpened, rigid to resist bending, yet ductile to resist breaking, sterile, and corrosion-resistant. Full resorption: 180 days.
