Description: DescriptionPrimitive 19th Century or earlier Stool or Seat made from hand hewn wood, likely Chinese Elm. Excellent patina and character. Mortise and Tenon construction with hand forged metal repairs. The metal repairs are very old, note the oxidation leeched into the wood surrounding the repairs. There is a cipher or monogram signature on the side of the seat as shown.Measurements are 19” height, approx. 23” length and 16”width at the sides. Weight is approx. 16.5 pounds unpackaged. There have been repairs/conservation measures made to the piece- several hand forged metal repairs and an older patch was added to the inside of one leg. Two stretchers are long gone, there may some professional repairs.
