1998 PELIKAN JADE ORIGINALS OF THEIR TIME LE 1240/4000 FOUNTAIN PEN NEVER INKED

Description: For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Pelikan 1935 Originals Of Their Time Jade Limited Edition 1240 of 4000 Fountain Pen fitted with an 18K gold medium nib. I consider this fountain pen to be in Mint Condition, Never Inked, and New Old Stock in the original box with all the Pelikan literature/documentation. This Jade Pelikan is modeled from the 101 of 1935. This was manufactured new in 1998, this pen saw a run of just 4000 pieces. This model incorporates a jade celluloid cap and barrel with a black hard rubber piston knob and section. The jade coloring has a striking marbled pattern. The ink window is dark green and the nib is an 18K yellow gold nib that is a medium size. Rather than the original cork, the piston mechanism uses a synthetic seal, one of the few variations from the original. The barrel and cap are gorgeous with beautiful coloring, a perfectly gold-plated cap clip, and 2 ring cap banding. There are absolutely no nicks, chips, cracks, or repairs on the barrel or cap. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. This Pelikan measures 4 5/8" inches in length capped and 6 1/4" posted. The material used on this Limited Edition Pelikan is Celluloid for the cap and barrel and hard rubber for the blind cap and the section. This fountain pen was part of a series from Pelikan called "Originals Of Their Time". This Jade series started production in 1998. This Pelikan is a Limited Edition series which is stamped on the back of the cap, "1240/4000" and corresponds to the same Limited Edition number on the presentation box and warranty certificate. The Pelikan 18K Solid Gold Nib is designated as "Medium" and measures roughly .86mm when measured with digital calipers. This fountain pen and nib have never been inked and wanted to keep it that way for the next collector. These nibs are notorious for being smooth writers - I have no reason to believe this one would be any different! The pen uses a piston filler mechanism which is unused and ready for your ink.
