Description: 1994 United States World War II stamps in first day cover presentation package with June 6, 1994 postmarks from the U.S. Navy’s USS Normandy Station (CG 60). I obtained this first day cover package at the American Cemetery above Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on June 6, 1994 during the 50th anniversary ceremonies for the D-Day landings. The USS Normandy was stationed off the coast of France on 6/6/94 and cancelled these stamps. This is a beautiful package that comes with a sheet of the 1994 stamps that were the fourth in a series of 5 commemorating World War II. The presentation folder has a photo on the cover of the 1944 D-Day landings; inside cover has a brief story about the landings, a quote from General Dwight Eisenhower, and a brief description of this series of stamps. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to obtain this first day package that was only available to those who were in Normandy for the 50th anniversary. 1994 World War II souvenir sheet issue, Scott 2838.
