Roll-out - The first of 50 C-5B military transports roll out of its final assembly position at Lockheed-Georgia Company following a ceremony to mark the event. More than a thousand people, including Air Force Secretary Verne Orr, witnessed the significant milestone in Lockheed's contract to manufacture the air-lifter for the United States (U.S.) Air Force. Lockheed aerospace workers are now preparing to initiate pre-delivery activities. These include: fueling operations and fuel system checks; avionics checkout; initial engine runs to check related systems; preflight inspection; taxi and production flight tests.
