I purchased these cards along with other boxes from 1982 when I was in junior high school, mowing yards for baseball card money and I never opened them. They have remained in a cool, dry, air-conditioned and smoke-free, climate controlled home for nearly 40 years sitting untouched in my closet with the rest of my card collection. These, along with all of my other unopened boxes, were authenticated by Steve Hart of the Baseball Card Exchange in Shererville, Indiana in May of 2021. Steve is the nation's leading expert on wax pack technology and fraud. He knows when a product has been tampered with and when one is in it's original condition. These cards are untouched and should be in MINT condition. Cards that appeared in the 1983 set include the rookie cards of Hall of Famers Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs and Ryne Sandberg.
