Eschewing the maple top of the SG2000, the SG1500 has solid mahogany body wings, yielding a certain warmth and growl. The humbuckers are detailed and punchy with great harmonic complexity, and unlike earlier SG1500s, these pickups feature dedicated push/push coil splits on the Tone pots for single coil sparkle and snap.
