This is an original press photo. Alabama-Officials got a taste of the past-and the future-at a special preview Sunday of Iron and Steel Museum of Alabama. The museum, set to open to the public Tuesday, is the latest addition to Tannehill Historical State Park, according to a spokesman. It houses exhibits of iron machinery, Civil War momentos and a miniature 1850's village, among other things. But the focus of the museum is on the history of iron and steel, from its first used by Indians in Alabama to the building of iron furnaces such as those at Tannehill, the spokesman said. In fact, one end of the museum is a model of such a furnace, showing how it works from inside and out. The museum will be open during the same hours as the park, daylight to dark, seven days a week. Admission to the park is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children. There is no extra charge to tour the museum.Photo measures 10 x 6.75 inches. Photo is dated 03-30-1981.
