1976 BMW R-Series

Description: I have owned this bike for around 17 years. Before that it belonged to a good friend of mine. It has always been maintained and I would buy new parts for it throughout the years. I have a huge folder of receipts. The PO had 1000cc cylinders and pistons installed. Also a lightened flywheel. Koni rear shocks. It has an Alpha Classic electronic ignition from Motorrad Elektrik and updated starter. I just changed the oil, filter, and all the gear oils in trans, shaft and rear drive. The splines have been lubed. I posted a couple of pictures of the rear of the motor and trans when I had it apart to show how clean it was. Just installed new Metzeler Block-C tires. The odometer used to show around 70,000. The trip wasn't working so I took it apart and got it working, unfortunatly the first number will turn, so sometimes it shows 20,000, 40,000...you get the idea. I didn't want to get into removing everything again. Unfortunately I did not see that problem until everything was put back together. There are a few nicks in the paint here and there. The major one being at the fairing from a tip over as shown in the pictures. The bike looks great from five feet but is not perfect. Many original parts are included, stock cylinders and pistons. The rear shocks and all the stock ignition components.I have the original starter that would need rebuilding. The rear light is converted to LED. A stock light housing is included as well a set of restoration stickers and decals. I have the tire pump. I might mention that when I got the bike it had the aluminum turn signals and gas cap which is for the 1974 model. I liked the shine so kept it as is. I do have a chrome gas cap and some black plastic turn signals. The Krauser bags are like new with the instert bags. I bought them and never had them on the bike much. The seat is a couple years old. It is a Siebenrock. Inside of tank is clean, I always keep Sta-Bil treatment in the tank. The clock works and keeps time. I unplug it as to not drain the battery.Runs great, no leaks, no smoke.
