Description: This is a very rare and original Map created by Armando Ravaglioli and designed by Luigi Piffero, the “Monuntual bird's flight path of the historic center of Rome in the year of the centenary 1970” meticulously documents the appearance of the oldest Rome as it appeared a hundred years from the Breccia di Porta Pia and the proclamation of the capital city of Italy. Even better than photography, the artist's design investigates with effectiveness and sensitivity even the most minute details of the urban fabric, offering a particularly suggestive tool of knowledge of Rome (with the help of the Plant it is possible to make real imaginary walks along the streets) but also documentation for the protection of the historic city center. A work that is linked to the long tradition of the great cartographers who over the centuries have witnessed the face of Rome: from Bufalini (1551) to Du Perac Lafreri (1577), Tempesta (1593), Maggi-Maupin-Losi (1625), Falda (1676), Nolli (1748). The map is in great shape for its age and has been stored properly over the years. It is made out of heavy stock paper and folds nicely into a 12 inch semi square. There are a few very minor blemishes, there are pin holes in the corner from being previously displayed, along with some very small rips at a few ends of the creases. The overall map and it's wonderful overhead detailed view of the city is in great condition. Please see the photos for more details The map measures 55 inches by 38.5 inches I will ship the map folded using usps priority mail with tracking and insurance.
