Description: Single sheet typewritten letter, hand signed by Robin Maxwell-Hyslop, MP for Tiverton in Devon at the time, on House of Commons headed notepaper, dated 7th November 1967. The letter states his support for "the British Field Sports Society" and is in response to an invitation from a Mr D T Fox of the Yeovil and Sherbourne Coursing Club, Sturminster Newton, Dorset, inviting the MP to attend one of this season's Coursing meetings. Maxwell-Hyslop replies that "I intend to continue to do what i can to prevent any such measure reaching the Statute Book. The actual tactics for achieving this end are co-ordinated by my friend and colleague Mr Marcus Kimball MP, who works in close liaison with the British Field Sports Society. Yours sincerely Robin Maxwell-Hyslop." Sir Robin Maxwell-Hyslop (1931-2010) was a British Conservative politican who succeeded Derick Heathcoat-Amory as the MP for Tiverton in Devon in 1960 - a seat he retained until the 1992 General Election. He was the younger son of Royal Navy Captain Alexander Maxwell-Hyslop who served aboard HMS Devonshire and was recognised for his bravery in avieting its loss by explosion in 1929.
