Description: The Policies and Politics of John Henry Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston (1784-1865). Lord Palmerston was a British statesman who was in government office almost continuously from 1807 until his death in 1865, and twice served as Prime Minister to Queen Victoria, from 1855-1858 and 1859-1865. On Sale is a 1966 first edition of * The Most English Minister - The Policies and Politics of Palmerston *, by Donald Southgate, with 8 illustrations plus some maps, published by Macmillan, London, [first published 1966] this one states: "© Donald Southgate 1966", it's dated 1966 to the title page, with no other editions or impressions listed, size approximately 8-3/4 inches x 5-3/4 inches, with 647 pages, plus the illustrations. The red cloth-covered hardcover, is lightly rubbed and bumped on the spine-ends, corners square, very sound and not worn or split along the spine, fading to the spine and title panel illegible, has a scuff-mark to the front and is slightly marked, otherwise generally clean and tidy (see photo's 1 & 3). Inside is complete, endpapers sound and not split, hinges tight with boards firmly attached, binding tight with all pages well attached, has original owner's name and "620" written to the top corner of the front free-endpaper, no other writing or graffiti, pages not torn, a couple of consecutive lower corners accidentally bumped else corners not turned, not tanned, slight foxing to the endpapers and the closed page edges else generally clear, only very lightly read, otherwise generally crisp and bright and very clean and tidy.
