Description: doublespread ad Skippy Peanut Butter by Norman Rockwell 1963 This is a two-page centerfold magazine ad published in the May 18, 1963 issue of The Saturday Evening Post. It promotes a sweepstakes contest for Skippy Peanut Butter, with the winner getting a Pan American Airways around-the-world tour. The artwork is by Norman Rockwell and shows three scenes of a people recommending Skippy through word of mouth, by passing along its good points to the next person in line: Skippy tastes just like fresh-roasted peanuts Skippy stays fresh because only Skippy takes out the stalemakers Skippy spreads so smooth and easy. The fourth illustration is of a redheaded boy directly addressing the reader about this Whispering Sweepstakes: Dont Delay! Whisper It From The Roof Tops! The ad contains a sweepstakes entry form, and the instructions are wittier than usual for a contest: For years weve been shouting the merits of Skippy. But, sad to state, a small segment of the population had paid absolutely no attention to our advertising. Therefore we turn to you Skippy users for help. We ask you to whisper to just one person how great Skippy is. The entry blank says: Ive filled in all the information and answered the silly questions you asked. There is also a space to fill in the answer to Name of Person I Whispered To_________ and Did He/She Listen? Yes_____ No_______ The ad is a very large one, measuring slightly over 13 x 20 inches in size, spread across two full magazine pages. It has tiny pinholes down the centerfold line from having been stapled in the middle of the magazine. Otherwise, it is in Fine condition. It will be shipped folded once, as originally published. _gsrx_vers_1680 (GS 9.8.3 (1680))
