Description: 1961 Topps Baseball Stamps Album, with 148 Stamps - Including Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and 20 Additional Hall of Fame Members On the Set - The 1961 Topps Baseball Stamps Set was partly introduced to capitalize on the excitement around baseball's expansion. This collection includes 208 unnumbered portrait stamps, divided into two color series: rich green and chocolate brown. The green series was released first, followed by the brown series later in the 1961 season. Notably, Al Kaline appears in both color versions, likely due to a printing oversight by Topps, as he was already included in the green set when he reappeared in the brown.Each stamp, approximately 1 3/8” x 1 7/8” in size, was packaged in pairs alongside 1961 Topps baseball cards in wax packs. To encourage collecting, Topps also offered a stamp album for just a dime. This 5” x 8” album, with its bright green cover, provided a two-page spread for each of the 18 major league teams. The left page detailed team information like pennants, pitching and batting records, ballpark dimensions, and World Series titles, while a portion of the left and the right page contained ten blank spaces designated for player stamps.
