Description: This is for an original program from the August 21 1959 football game played between the Baltimore Colts and New York Giants at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas Texas. The program claims the game to be an Annual Professional Football Classic which was sponsored by the Dallas Salesmanship Club for the benefit of the Salesmanship Club Boys Camp. I’m not sure if the two clubs that played for the Worlds Championship would start their next season playing a charity game at the Cotton Bowl in Texas, but that’s what we have here. The program is thicker than most and has tons of ads and info on both the Colts and Giants. Included in the program is a photo of Don Maynard, who would be cut during the preseason and wind up playing 1959 with the Hamilton Tiger Cats before resuming is American football career with the 1960 New York Titans in the new AFL league. A great program with only some small corner creases at the bottom of the front cover which don’t even distract from the rarity of this book. I haven’t seen any “Annual Football Classics” at the Cotton Bowl from any other years so I’m not sure if this was a one shot or a long running tradition.
