1957 Hand Painted Plaster Comedy Tragedy Mask Set Theater Drama Wall Decor Look!

Description: Hello and welcome to my auction! Here we have very nice pair of mid-century modern theater comedy tragedy masks hand painted on 4/17/1957 by Mary Ann Deimler.Back in the 1950's, it was very popular to buy different plaster objects and paint them.Stores offered them for sale, you painted them to your liking, then they would be fired in a kiln by the store, with a glossy sealing varnish if asked.These stores still exist today.They are very stylized caricatures and are made of plaster, with colored glazes and varnish.There are some minor chips and nicks on the back and sides - very minor - some were under the glaze so these were chipped when bought - see pictures.Also, there is a bit of varnish craquelure - tiny cracks in two areas - not noticeable when hung.Despite this, they display very well.The colors are hard to see - they are primarily bright yellow, deep green, blue, black and pink.They are very unique.They measure 7“ x 11“ and 8" x 11".They are in good condition with no cracks.One has a hole on the back, and the other just hangs naturally by the backside top of the maskI don't see another pair like them on Ebay.Listing as found.See my other auctions for many other pairs and other things!
