Description: The ungraded card from the "carbking" collection has a verticle crease at the center of the card and moderate wear. The card measures roughly 3.75" x 2.75". Please review the attached pictures to assist with the condition and content of the card. The 1954 Stark & Wetzel cards were a promotional campaign where an Indianapolis 500 Winners card would be inserted in the packaging of one of their meat products. There are a total of 37 cards in this set, and they are very rare. As of this posting, a total of 47 cards have been submitted to PSA for grading, and only a single Lee Wallard card. Lee Wallard was born in Schenectady, New York, in 1910, and ran his first Championship Car race in 1941 at Syracuse. During World War II, Wallard served with the Navy Seebees. Following the war, Wallard ran more Championship Car Races leading up to the 1951 Indy 500. Wallard would drive the #99 Belanger Special to a dominating Indianapolis 500 win. He led 159 laps and became the first driver to finish the race in under four hours. Unfortunately, just one week later, he was severely burned in an accident at the Reading Fairgrounds that would end his career. He passed away in 1963 while living in Florida.
