Description: Handsome fold-out 1953 Mobil road map of Pennsylvania, Delaware and the Chesapeake Bay area, printed more than 70 years ago. The map opens to 18" x 33" and has great detail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography by Rand McNally. The Pennsylvania map is one side. On the other side there are inset plans of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Scranton, Allentown, Reading, Harrisburg, and Erie, along with the map of Delaware and the Chesapeake Bay area, south to Norfolk. The map was distributed by the Socony-Vacuum Oil Company in 1953 to promote its Mobilgas and Mobiloil brands. It is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 2-4609-14. The cover art features Pegasus, the company's distinctive flying red horse. There's a list of various Mobil products on the back cover, including Mobil Hydrolone, Mobile Lustre Cloth, Shipmate Marine Fenders, Mobilflame, and Mobil Kerosene. Condition: This map is in very good condition, bright and clean, with no rips, tears, or writing. There's a neat rubber-stamp imprint on the front cover from Kenny Heft's Mobil station on Easton Avenue in Bethlehem. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. Buy with confidence!
