The sports included in the program were athletics, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, equestrian, fencing, football, gymnastics, hockey, modern pentathlon, rowing, shooting, swimming, water polo, weightlifting, wrestling and yachting. Medal Count: United States won the highest number of medals. They won 40 gold, 19 silver and 17 bronze medals which made a total of 76 medals. USSR won 22 gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze medals.
