Description: In the mid 1950s Wilson Sporting Goods contracted with many MLB players to endorse their line of bats, gloves and baseball equipment. The players were featured on 8 x 10 ( some slightly larger ) heavy, glossy, black and white photos with a piece of Wilson equipment ( usually a glove ) predominately placed in the shot. These were used as in store window advertisement and promotional pieces in primarily sporting goods store or sporting goods depts. in larger establishments. Sometimes they were given to customers as a premium for buying a Wilson product. They are hard to find because of their limited distribution. Wilson tended to stay with a player over the course of his career which led to some pose changes and redos of individual photos. The Ted Williams is interesting because the original composition never changed and there is no hint of a Wilson piece of equipment to be seen. I think they were just happy to have Williams as "staff" advisor. It is considered the key to the set.
