Description: 1949 Eureka Baseball Sport Stamp # 62 Peanuts Lowrey - Chicago Cubs (EX/NM) The 1949 Eureka Sport Stamps is a collection of 198 National League players, the president of the National League and the Commissioner of baseball issued on a 7-1/2’ by 10” sheet. Each individual stamp measures 1-1/2” by 2” with a “colorized” image; the player’s name and card number within a yellow strip along the white border at the bottom and has 1-4 perorated edges. The 200 stamp set was organized by team including the Boston Braves (#3-27), Brooklyn Dodgers (#28-51), The Chicago Cubs (#52-75), Cincinnati Reds (#76-100), New York Giants (#101-126), Philadelphia Phillies (#127-151), Pittsburgh Pirates (#152-176) and the St. Louis Cardinals (177-200). An album measuring 7-1/2” by 9-1/4” was available for collectors to assemble the set. The popularity of the set was likely minimal giving that the American League was never issued though suggestions to the contrary appeared on the back of the album.
