When the Allies were pushing Germany out of France in 1944, these notes were printed by the Forbes Lithograph Company of Boston. The note carries the small "F" for Forbes at the top in the lower right scroll. The Secret Service turned the Forbes plant into an armed fortress, including manned machine guns on the roof.
