Description: For the Baseball Hobbyist. . . 1943 World Champions New York Yankees HANK BOROWY, New York Yankees ~ 1-3/4" by 2-3/4" commemorative stamp Issued in 1944 by Major Leaguers of Paterson, N.J. In 1944 the New York Yankees* issued stamps commemorating the World's Championship title the Bronx Bombers won in 1943. That club posted a 98-56 record and defeated the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals, 4 games to one, in the Fall Classic. This stamp measures approximately 1-3/4" by 2-3/8" and is in full color with the player's name in white on red at the bottom. Although not a trading card, it is one of the very few baseball collectibles issued in the midst of the hostilities during World War II. Once quite common in hobby circles (30 to 40 years ago), with the passing years this stamp has become increasingly difficult to find. Consider picking up a favorite or two for yourself - while they last. Condition: Good/Very Good or better with excellent color and original gum on the reverse.
