Three Soviet Airmen who received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union today from Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR are Junior Lieutenants S. Zdorovtsev (top right), P. Kharitonov (top Left) and M. Zhukov. Zdorovtsev, his ammunition running out as he battled with a German Bomber, shattered the bomber's tail with his propeller. The German ship crashed and exploded Zdorovtsev felled a plane of the Luftwaffe by ramming it and shearing off the tail. He also reached his our airdrome safely. Zhukov plowed into an enemy bomber with his plane and made it safely back to his own base. This photo was flashed to New York from Moscow by radio. Photo measures 7 x 9 inches.
