Description: A lovely lighter weight white satin wedding gown with short train. It would be a wonderful piece on its own for the big day, but perhaps would be even better to use this vintage piece for reconstruction of a “new to you” gown, which I understand is common now days. There is lace detailing to the bodice as well as the train. The piece buttons in the back with buttons along the spine. There are snap closures at the wrists. train has a hook so it can be hung on hanger. There are no tags or labels, but based upon style, it is likely 40s. Would likely best fit modern size Extra Small. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference and it was too small on her to be buttoned. But the dress form is modern size 0 and it fit beautifully. Measurements: Bust: 32-33 inches (depending on how much you pull at the gathering around the chest) Waist: 24 inches Hips: up to 42 inches Length: 57 inches Sleeve Length: about 26 inches (they are v shaped) Train Length: about 20 inches (this is in addition to the regular dress length) Fair vintage condition - The wedding gown presents beautifully in photos, but it does have some issues. Overall the dress exhibits general wear. The largest issue is the lace. It exhibits wear as well as numerous past repairs made to the lace. There are still some small places where the lace has some holes too. The lace in its current state is delicate, you could wear as is, but I know many seamstresses who would likely advise to just remove the current lace and replace with new (or perhaps a family heirloom) lace. There are a few pinholes to the satin as well as minor wear to seam allotments. Some faint marks found throughout dress as well, including discoloration to the lace near the underarms. At the base of the buttons there is some wear to the satin. It looks like the seam was once sewn right up to the bottom button, but that this stitch has since been removed. Perhaps the bride was sewn into it? See the last three images for this - it does not look too obvious when buttoned all the way, but note there is a little hole there. This piece may also be a good candidate for a full blown reconstruction, instead of just the lace, for those who are skilled at such things. Please note the fabric likes to wrinkle very easily, you should hang it up as soon as receiving. All items are true vintage - meaning the are 20 years old or older in most cases and they are used! An items conditions is summarized above and the categories scale I use is "Mint, Excellent, Good, Fair". Please use both description AND photos in combination to understand flaws, where photo allotment allow, as only so many photos are allowed here. All measurements are approximate - taken flat and doubled where needed (bust, waist, hips) unless otherwise stated.
