1940s-1950s Historical Art Prints Capote Churchill Atomic Bomb Huxley Hughes Ads

Description: Most of these vintage original 1940s - 1950s historical figure art prints pulled from vintage Life magazines are in excellent condition and only have light edge wear, most of which can easily be hidden behind the border of a picture frame or framing mat; however, please refer to the specific item details for each individual item in the descriptions below: 1946 Plutonium Laboratory Photography Atomic Bomb Research Project Life Magazine Article Photo Print Set: This historical article consists of 10 images spread out over 8 pages. Some are front and back, while others have advertisements on the back. Each image has a descriptive caption, like the excerpt above. The featured page shows Dr. Edgar F. Westrum working away in his lab. Most of the pages are in good condition, with light edge and corner wear. Also, there are light water / humidity staining on most of the prints. This set would make for interesting reading and would look great when displayed as a set, especially after getting them matted, framed and pressed behind glass. Would make an excellent gift for a nuclear engineer! Measurements: 10 1/4" wide x 14" long 1955 Winston Churchill Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Photo Print Set: The two page magazine spread illustration by Ronald Searle has a portion of a laundry detergent ad on the backside of one page and the other page has the Churchill article page that reads "Churchill's Own Words" with photos from his childhood. If one wishes to frame the illustration that spans two pages, this portion of the Churchill article will be concealed. Likewise, on the reverse side of the full page distinguished portrait photo of Winston Churchill there is the portion of the article that shows several small photos of Churchill, including "Esteem for Eisenhower", "A Day in Normandy", "In Liberated Paris", etc.) and if one were to frame the large Winston Churchill portrait photo this portion of the article would be hidden from view. Similarly, the page that reads "The History He Saw and Made" at the top of the page has the four photos on the back that includes the one of Churchill with US President Franklin D. Roosevelt on the backside (as shown in the images provided). Furthermore and lastly, the page that has the photos of Churchill at Queen Elizabeth's Coronation and him at "Home At Chartwell" is on the backside of the page with the photos that includes Winston Churchill "At Roosevelt's Grave". Please keep in mind the photos and portions of the article that are featured on the front and back of this double-sided five page vintage original periodical set of Winston Churchill if choosing to frame and display particular sides of each page. Measurements: All three pages measure 10" x 14" 1946 Truman Capote Marguerite Young Writers Literature Hall Photo Print: This 1946 era Truman Capote & Marguerite Young photograph is in very good condition other than some light wear along the edge where it was delicately removed from magazine's bind. This could easily be concealed behind the border of a frame when matted and pressed behind glass. There is a tiny water stain in the bottom right-hand corner that is not very noticeable (not visible in the image provided). Fortunately, most of which can easily be hidden behind the border of a picture frame or framing mat; this faint water only enters into the last three letters of the last word "other" in the caption beneath the large full page vintage original 1946 Life Magazine photograph of famous authors Truman Capote and Marguerite Young. At this time in history Capote was relatively unknown, but Young already held notoriety. Measurements: 10" x 14" 1946 Atomic Bomb Testing Bikini Atoll WWII Post War Photo Print: This 1946 era photography two page print set would look great framed and displayed together. Both pages are in very good condition with only minor wear along the edge where they were attached to the magazine bind. Measurements: 10" x 14" 1957 Military Terrier Missile Cruiser Life Magazine Article Warship Photo: This 1957 era Military Terrier Missile Crusier photograph was removed with delicate care from a vintage Life Magazine. It is in fantastic condition and would look great when framed, matted and pressed behind glass. Would make an outstanding gift for collectors of military related memorabilia. Also would look good in a vintage inspired restaurant, diner, bar, pub or tavern. Measurements: 10" x 14" 1948 Brave New World Aldous Huxley Charles E. Martin Illustration Dystopian Art Print: This black and white advertisement features a portion of an article written by Aldous Huxley, regarding the 16 years that have followed his book..The illustration is by famous artist Charles E. Martin who created covers for The New Yorker Magazine. It would make a great gift for fans of Huxley and Brave New World. Measurements: 10" x 14" 1946 Superplanes Howard Hughes Aviation Airplane Photo Print Set: This Life Magazine spread features Superplanes created by Howard Hughes for the United States Air Force during World War Two. There are three total front-and-back pages, with two 2-page spreads contained. The first photo shows the two-page spread presented side by side. They would look great when framed together, matted flat and pressed behind glass. There is some minor wear along the edging where each page was delicately removed from the magazine's bind. There s also a light water stain in top-left corner of the first page, which is print shown in the second photograph. Would make en excellent gift for collectors of World War Two related memorabilia. Measurements: Each of the three pages is 10" x 14" 1952 José Ferrer Hollywood Life Magazine Photo Print Moulin Rouge Toulouse Lautrec Star: This 1952 print features José Ferrer in a black and white image wearing a dapper suit and hat. It is in good condition with minor wear along the right edge where it was delicately removed from the magazine's bind. This would be easy to conceal behind the border of a frame when matted flat and pressed behind glass. On the back side is an advertisement for Burlington Mills lingerie. Measurements: 10 1/4" x 14" 1957 George London Opera Stage Photo Baritone Singer Phantom of the Opera Halloween Decor Print: This spooky 1957 era print features Baritone Opera Singer George London. It has some minor wear along the edge where it was originally attached to the magazine bind. This could easily be hidden behind the border of a frame when matted and pressed behind glass. Making excellent Halloween decoration, this print would look great in a haunted house. This article photo is for framing only, the remaining portions of article are not included although a half-page excerpt is featured on the backside. Please Note: There is an original printing flaw not visible in the image provided that it located in the upper far right-hand corner. Fortunately it is not very substantial as it is merely a couple of thin white streaks (a little loss of the grey toned background color). The longest white hairline streak is approximately 2" in length and they are both positioned over the "CLOSE-UP" Life Magazine typography in the top right-hand corner. These streaks actually add a delightfully distressed but still crisp and fresh look to this eerie vintage photograph! Measurements: 10" x 14" 1946 Warner Bros Motion Picture Company Anniversary Ad & Night and Day Cole Porter Cary Grant Old Hollywood Movie Article Photography Prints: "To commemorate the birth of sound pictures 20 years ago, the Warner Brothers have modestly chosen one of their own pictures as a 'symbol of 20 years of progress in sound.' The object selected for this honor is the Technicolor musical called Night and Day." Reads this vintage original 1946 movie article for the 1946 film Night and Day starring famous actor Cary Grant as the legendary composer Cole Porter. Also included with this Old Hollywood movie article photography print set is a vintage original 1946 Warner Bros Motion Picture Company anniversary advertisement that reads, "Just 20 years ago Warners made a movie that talked". This 1940s era Warner Brothers Motion Picture advertisement set of two front-and-back, full sized prints and one half-page print is in good condition, with minor wear along the edges and corners. There are a few light crease marks on the face the first print pictured as well. This would be well hidden when matted flat, framed and pressed behind glass. Also included is a smaller ad featuring three still shots from the film 'Night and Day" featuring Cary Grant. On the back side of the vintage original 1946 Warner Bros Motion Picture Company anniversary advertisement there is a 1946 Mennen Quicool advertisement as shown in the last image showcased here.
