This map opens up to a generous 66 x 90 cm [26" x 35¼"] and is drawn on a scale of 1:2,217,600, or 35 miles to the inch. The coverage area extends from France south to Tunisia and east to Turkey, including Italy, Greece, the Balkans, Albania, Malta, Sardinia, Corsica, Crete, Sicily, and more. There is a large inset depicting the Roman Empire, and a smaller map of the World of Homer. Details include ancient, or classical, place names, such as Evvoia, Lesbos, Peloponnesus, Etruria, Rodi, Bruttium, Roma, Campania, Khalkidike, Caria, and many more. The classic pair of winged lions, with horns and torch, flank the title and one of the zodiac signs (Taurus) in the map's decorative border. Other signs include Aries, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Condition: This map is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears.
