Description: This wonderful example of Guatemalan Folk Art comes to us from the collection of a well traveled lady. According to her notes this hand made woman with basket carrying her baby was purchased in Guatemala City in 1940. She is 12” tall from the bottom of her wood base to the top of the basket on her head. Made of fabric and wire and dressed in woven patterned cloth. The baby on her back is also made of fabric. Both have embroidered features. She carries a lovely decorated bowl in her hand, on her head is a full basket. Written on the bottom of her base is, Guatemala San Juan District. She is in very good vintage condition. A little dusty and she has lost most of the items in her bowl but without holes, tears, repairs or musty odors.
