A collection of essays illustrative of certain aspects of George Moore's life and genius, designed by the author Charles Morgan as a tribute to the celebrated novelist and friend. The collection was drawn from material collected by Morgan in preparation of a biography, project which was later abandoned. George Moore was an Irish author, known for his naturalistic writings and as one of the first English language authors to be influenced by French realism, particularly the work of Emile Zola. Complete with the scarce front flyleaf of the dust wrapper, indicated to be all that was issued with the Macmillan London edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and other photographic illustrations in black and white.In the attractive original publisher's quarter cloth over marbled boards binding. Loosely inserted, the front flyleaf of the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean.
