Description: Series II. 100 Baht. (100 บาท) Incorrectly identified by PMG as Pick #20A. It is Pick #20B. Pick #20A is dated 1925; this one is from 1932.ObverseUpper left is a Garuda, bottom right is Erawan on a pedestal.Script: ThaiReverseRoyal Ploughing Ceremony at the beginning of the rice growing seasonSigned by Pradit Manudham (PM₂)Minister of Finance No problems noted by PMG but I note a tiny bite out of the top center (easily visible in the photo) and tiny fraying or pinhole in top left corner and top right corner. Minimal but evident folding along the center from bottom to top. A scarce and huge banknote that represented a ton of money to anyone in Siam in 1932 - and really a lot of money even to someone in the United States. Silver coins were extinct in the Kingdom of Siam by 1932. 1929 was the last date any were struck. Using those as a reference, the biggest 1929 coin was a half Baht with actual silver weight of 0.1567oz. So by this time 100 Baht represented 31.34 troy ounces of pure silver. Almost a Kilogram. Right now as of October 31, 2024 a kilogram of silver is more than $1,000 USD.
