Description: Very rare "flour sack" from the 1930s. Distributed by the Federal Surplus Commodities Corporation, who redistributed surplus food from farms during the Great Depression to the poor. This sack contained 98 lbs of whole wheat cereal grains, and still has the remnants of hulls inside. There is some staining from the grain hulls throughout. Sack has never been washed or treated, just lived in a trunk in the attic since the family had to abandon their Montana homestead in the 30s. The only other sack of this type I have found is in the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane, Washington. Thanks for supporting our small Montana business!
