A person would apply this with their own hands or with a cloth over affected area. This bottle is empty with remnants of the fluid that was in it, the label is in perfect condition and perfectly eligible to read even at it's age of 90 years! In 1908 the "Furst-McNess" company opened in Freeport, Illinois and they made a very broad range of products. Furst-McNess made Baking ingredients & recipe books, many different medicines topical & oral, and all kinds of different toiletries! These old bottles are parts of the history we left behind!
