He shot himself dead on June 7, 1926 in Moscow, on Tversky Boulevard, at the monument to Pushkin. In the magazine "Russian wealth" appeared his first story, and soon - and the second - in the magazine "Testament". Contemporaries The author appreciated the author. He found a unique tone, style, and plots to tell about the tragic fate of people in the revolutionary and post-revolutionary era. Readers will find amazing anticipations of Bulgakov’s diabolical motifs and an affinity for Babel and Alexei Tolstoy’s prose about the Civil War. In contrast to them, Sable was Socialist-Revolutionary with a pre-war experience and, accepting revolutionary reality, could not survive its cruelty. After 1928, Sobol’s books were recognised (according to Gorky) as decadent and were not reprinted. In the post-Soviet era, through the efforts of researchers of Russian-Jewish literature, especially the Israeli scholar Vladimir Hazan, the heritage of Andrei Sobol was returned to cultural life.
