Description: 1922 Ireland Black Dollard Overprint proof on thin whitish paper, block of 4,Hib PR2 In 1922 when Ireland gained its independence it issued provisional overprints on British stamps until it could produce its own stamps. Two of the printing firms that produced these overprints, Dollard Printing House and Alex Thom, Ltd, produced proofs of the overprints that would be used on the stamps. These proofs were issued on several types of paper and with, or without, a handstamp on the reverse, some with the initials of BJ Brennan with the handstamp. Some were also issued on 1/2d stamps of GB. I am offering, in this lot, a block of four of the black overprint on thin, whitish paper, without the handstamp. It is listed in the Hibernian Catalogue as PR2 with a value of €30 for a single example, thus €120 for a block of 4This example also shows a broken "n" in "na" in the upper left stamp, and deformed dates on the bottom 2 stamps. The item you see in the scan is the exact item you will be receiving. Stamps will be sent USPS first class mail with stiffeners to protect stamp. My shipping charge is minimal and I will combine shipping. If you buy more than one lot, there is only a single shipping charge based on the weight of all of the lots.
