1920’s Perfume Lamp Orfear Made In France Lampe Veilleuse Brûlé Parfum Antique

Description: This is a lovely rare French Art Deco night light, bedside table lamp from the 1920’s made by Orfear. It is a prime example of the superb artistry of French lighting from this period. The “ovoid” form shade is in cased glass with swirls of colors so vibrant and brilliant as only the best of French glass makers could produce. Though lesser know than the night lights of Gabriel Argy Rousseau, Duchaussy, Daum and Robj, this Orfear is not of lesser quality. Known in France as ' Lampe veilleuse brûle-parfum' (night light - perfume evaporator) the beautiful shade is in satin glass with vibrant hues of yellow, green, and blue, that swirl randomly throughout the shade. The base is a wrought corolla supported by 3 bun feet. 3 identical buns hold the shade with 2 being fixed and one removable to allow access to the bulb for replacement. To use as a perfume evaporator simply allow one drop of perfume/essential oil to fall into the hollow at the top. When the lamp is turned on, convection currents create a gentle draft through the lamp, picking up the scent and distributing it throughout the room. Signed to the inside of the base in relief Orfear made in France S.R. The cord has been cut off and will need to be replaced prior to use. This piece would be a lovely addition to any collection.
