Description: Rather stunning 1920s dress with elaborate beading and some other very nice details. The sheer fabric is a very dark navy blue, not black, and I believe it is silk. The dress is covered in opaque iridescent beads. Twenty rows adorn the scoop neck. The sleeves, and both the front and the back of the bodice, and the skirt, are covered in climbing sprays of floral beading. The elbow-length sleeves also have wonderful flares at the cuffs that are trimmed with a tiny ladder borders. At the drop waist, there are an additional 16 rows of beading and one side of the waist is topped with a large blue flower. The dress has no closures, it pulls on over the head, and it has no labels. This dress is one hundred years old so it is, of course, not perfect. However, the overall condition for a 1920s dress is still very good. There is one small hole near the back neckline. I feel like it looks bigger in the photo, but it's just barely over 1/8" across. If you hold the skirt up to the light you'll find a couple of areas where there are a few pinholes. These are very minor, and there are only a few, it is not riddled with pinholes! They're also quite hard to see. There are seam separations at each shoulder. At the left shoulder, there is a small area where the fabric is double-layered and there is a small hole in the top layer, but not the bottom layer. There's also a small area where the fabric right along the edge (where the seam was) is a bit frayed. On the right shoulder there's a small hole right at the edge of where the seam was--as if it began to fray before the seam gave way. The flower definitely looks quite worn and I think that some of the petals that were originally covered in velveteen have lost their velveteen tops. And that's pretty much it. It's possible that you'll find a loose thread or two but for the most part the beading seems to be fully, or very nearly fully intact. This dress is offered as-is and as-found. I've done no cleaning and no mending. Again, it's old so you it's not outside of the realm of possibility that you'll find a very small issue that was not described here but I've done my very best to inspect, photograph and describe any issues. I want you to know what you're getting! Measurementsshoulders: 16.5"bust: 40"drop waist: 38"length: 43"length to top of drop waist band: 18"
