The glories of war to the Germans are far worse than even the most horrible antics of the barbarians of ages ago. Their raids over London have claimed the lives of many babes in arms such as are shown in this British Official photo. Every conceivable sort of cave, underground passageway, and concrete dwellings are utilized to protect the babes from the ruthless air raiders. The photo shows Miss McMillan and her little charges safe in a smugglers' cave which has been dried and generally prepared for any emergency. This dug-out will accommodate seventy children and a few of their parents. The Germans knowing their raids claim the lives of babes still persist although there is no "military advantage" possible.Photo measures 10 x 8inches. Photo is dated 11-15-1917.
