Description: 1916 1st edition. When A State Goes Dry by Frederick O'Blue. Tells the story of alcohol prohibition in WV written from the perspective of the State Tax Commissioner (ex-officio of Prohibition) of the time. Very interesting take on West Virginia during "dry" times, as well as prohibition in general. Covers all aspects of the issue. Imposed on WV citizens in 1914 (six years prior to the national prohibition occurring in 1920), the book covers "going dry" in its earliest years. Very difficult to find a copy of this original printing. Excellent condition at 108 years old. This antique item has been professionally cleaned by a Pennsylvania restoration company. See last photo for company's info. Very light soiling to front end page and pasteboard (shown). Pages untanned and crisp. Maintains structural integrity with solid spine. Front and back covers show very mild soil (shown).
