Description: Souvenir token struck for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition at San Francisco. 28mm, struck in Copper-Nickel or another Nickel-based alloy (commonly listed as being "White metal", which is a completely different material). Shows Uncle Sam within a large horseshoe, typical of other similar "Good Luck" tokens popular at the time. The Reverse shows an image of what is supposed to be a set of Locks from the Panama Canal. Uncirculated, some mild haziness and a small spot of two. These are typically not struck too well at center, due to the hard material used. Also found struck in a Brass alloy, which are usually struck up better, suggesting that the dies were designed to use that composition primarily. I believe that NGC will certify this piece as a Misc. World's Fair item. 1104-10 Please Note: We require payment within four days of purchase, unless you contact us for other arrangements in advance of purchase.
